Dark is Not the End

This painting was inspired by life last term. It was hard and I was going through a lot. My pastor preached about how spiritual high points are often immediately followed by lows, like when Jesus was tempted in the desert right after his glorious baptism. Over winter break, I had gone to an amazing conference, Urbana 09, and was really fired up about my faith. But the term started to get to me and I was constantly tired and frustrated. Through these difficult circumstances, however, I drew much closer to God and began to rely more on him. I also began to clearly hear the voice of the Holy Spirit in me, guiding my path. Ultimately I found that God is good in all circumstances, even scary dark forests!
